Tina Hayes was crowned Ms. US Continental in July 2009. As Ms. Nevada Tina competed in the Ms. division because she is widowed from Eric Hayes. After 4 years of marriage Eric was involved in a bicycling accident that left him in a coma for 2 years. During those two years Tina learned a lot about taking care of a home and family, the importance of leaning on others for support, but most important she learned to set goals for herself and to reach for her dreams. Tina is now a 20 year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada where she moved to from Michigan with her family. She currently lives with her fiancée Patrick and her son Brandon. She is employed by Palm Mortuary after semi-retiring for 2 years following the death of her husband and father. She has found that by working at the mortuary and helping others understand their loss and feelings, she has begun to heal from such a tragic loss. In her spare time she enjoys helping out at Brandon's school as a class mom, traveling and spending quiet time with her family. Tina has been involved in pageants since 1988 when she was awarded 2nd runner up in the Miss Teen Fort Michilimackinac Pageant in Michigan. Since then she has competed, judged and helped run local and state level pageants in the Miss USA and Miss America systems. She became involved with the US Continental system in 2007 when she competed and placed 2nd runner up. Tina returned in 2009 and won the title. During her reign Tina is committed to promoting her platforms of American Heart Association and Volunteerism. She hopes to inspire others with the story of her life and show them that it is okay to reach for and "capture" their dreams. |
